I went running!

I know, now don't act so surprised! Well I went to Castle Park with an old friend and let me tell you, it was fantastic! We didn't run miles and miles, but we ran for a good 45 minutes...maybe even an hour! :0) I don't know if it was just my running buddy or if I really enjoy the out doors, but I ran more then I have ran outdoors in my life time! Today was day one (hopefully not the last) and I am excited to see what happens with this running thing! My mom, bless her heart, is watching my kids for me and she has to be the best grandma ever to those boys. When I called her to let her know I was on my way she said that Logan was sleeping and she was reading to James. Oh, and the best part was that James was actually really excited to see me when I opened the door. Oh the small rewards of motherhood!

Bowman Bay

On Valentines day we spent the entire day outside! We started out at the Freeland Park and then headed up North to Bowman Bay (just past Deception Pass). I had never even noticed a sign for Bowman Bay, but it was fantastic! I think I may have to go camping there this summer with the boys. The weather was great and the beach was fun; they even had a little playground for James. We had such a great day! On the way home we picked up a heart shaped pizza and got home and ate and went to sleep! It was a long day of playing!

Doesn't he look so pleased with the day!

James and Logan at Bowman Bay, and yes James is holding his brother all by himself!

For some reason this picture wouldn't change, but I just thought it was funny how much we had him bundled!

Newest Godsey!

We have a new Godsey! Yep my little brother's wife, Michelle, had a baby today! I don't know most of the stats...but he was 8 pounds (+/-) and 20 inches (+/-) and he is handsome! For her first baby he came pretty fast, although he was settled! There was a few hours that she sat at a 8+ so that must have made things interesting for Michelle, but they all make their entrance on their own time! So, congrats to Lj and Michelle and lets welcome Garrett Oliver Godsey to the circle!

Don't they look so peaceful? I know it won't last long...pretty soon he will get hungry and let you know, but for now 3 states away I love you and I can't wait to meet you next month baby Garrett!

New stats for Logan

So I took Logan to the doctor for a mysterious ever changing diaper rash and when the nurse puts him up on the scale she always asks me for a guess and I said...its been a month maybe 18.2 since he was 17.12 last time...I was so wrong. My beefcake is 18.14. My girlfriend was in the next room with her son for his 2 year well child and he was 22 pounds! He is in the -3% for his age, so he is really skinny, but still it is so funny that my son will soon out weigh a 2 year old! I asked the doctor about car seats since we are 1.2 pounds away from being too heavy and at least 2 inches (according to last months stats) over the car seat standards. Good time. He said its not really a big deal until he is hanging out! Our next car seat up starts at 30 pounds and goes up to 100 pounds. Doesn't really help us today!

Don't know if I ever told you this...

Don't know if I ever told you this, but James loves being an older brother...most of the time. Ever since we brought home Logan he has been the "perfect" example of how an older brother should be to a baby. He would love it if I would just relax and let him help more, but walking into a room with your 2 year old holding your 5 month old by the head or neck is a little difficult to take in. I am sure he was doing it to be helpful or something sweet like that. So I had to teach him the other day how we pick up babies from under their arms and if he starts crying don't just drop him thinking you may be in trouble...waiting for that one to happen, sounds like my kid. James has his own baby with a stroller and a carrier to go with it. He love doing the same things I do and the other day I found my baby bojrn and washed it to give to my sister in law when I found James attempting to get his brother in. I thought about letting him put his baby in, but so we don't have that one happen again I decided that he could just run around in it for a while and then it would go into a box for Michelle! He is going to make a great dad someday...say 20 years from now.

My Sweet Boys

Just this last week my boys have started to play together...as much as a 2 1/2 year old can safely play with an almost 5 month old brother!
I walked around the corner and found this. James drags Logan around in this and I had heard them on the move and it was such a sweet surprise to find James "reading" to him.
James is responsible for this one too! Aren't they precious?

James loves holding him too...most of the time. Sometimes it is just for a second, so you have to be quick because when he's done he isn't always gentle setting him down. I had to teach him yesterday how to carry him. I don't really want my 2 year old carrying his brother that weighs 18 pounds, but I would rather him carry him from under Logan's arms then around his head or neck how he has been attempting it the last few days.
Just a token picture of Logan from yesterday too. He is growing so fast!

Scanning Pictures

I have been working on a family calendar for my parents christmas present (2008) from all the kids and its been great to look at all these old pictures and remember the good old days and learn new stories about some I am seeing for the first time! So here are a few of my favorites! These are mostly of my older sister since I have been scanning in her pictures most resently... This is the 4 generation picture. My Great-Grandma "Grams", my older sister, Emily, my Grandma "Grandmama" and my mom. I love that we were so blessed to have grown up with family that was so close. I wish I could have that for my kids, but maybe my siblings will all agree on a general area to live in and we can have the same thing for our kids.

My mom and Emily in August 1978. Emily was just a little thing back then.

This one is a great one of Emily in October of 1979

This is my dad. It is crazy to me that my dad used to look like this. He used to have hair! August 1968.

My mom looks like such a Betty in this picture. She is so beautiful. Emily is great too!
September 1978. Linda at 4 months old...maybe the boys do look a little like me!

Day 4

We are on day 4 of potty training and I couldn't ask for any better from James. We started on Monday by removing all size 5 diapers and taping them up in an unlabeled box and putting it into the garage, and then came the Cars underwear. Of course I pick the week to start all this when he gets explosive diarrhea, but it may have been the most disgusting blessing in disguise. Maybe 3 months ago we bought James a potty chair and attempted potty training a half a dozen times, but I always got frustrated and gave up in 2 hours. I always made him try every half hour, but he didn't ever want to sit on the potty chair and then when he got wet he would spend as long as I would let him in his wet clothes and never care. So, this time we fought about not wearing diapers anymore for a while, but now he uses the potty chair whenever he needs to and brings it to me if I am not there with him, gross. Our bribe is animal crackers, thanks to my mother, and it works without fail. James even stayed dry all night last night!

My baby sister just got married!

Can't believe my baby sister just got married! We all went down for her wedding in St. George, Utah and as usual had a real adventure! We left December 17th and after picking up our car headed to Temple Square to see the lights since most of us had never seen them. They were beautiful, not that anything on temple grounds could ever not be, but it was such a beautiful experience for me.

I know you can't see any of the lights, but the nativity in the reflection pool was powerful.

My niece Amy, it was very cold that night!

Thursday we all got up and went down to the Mount Timpanogos Temple to be there while Nancy received her endowments. I was on my mission when my little brother went thru and I am almost glad, because I cried. I put my temple recommend in a pocket that I never put it in and we were late because of the terrible snow storm the night before and bad planning. I was told to sit down while my bishop was call, meanwhile Emily, my older sister, was sitting just inside the temple waiting for me. Sitting on that chair not being allowed to enter was one of the most difficult experiences I have ever been thru. I sat there holding back tears and then the thought came to my mind, look again...I did and there it was. My goodness! I know its bad to run in the temple but Emily and I ran! We made record time and because my aunt was in charge of the live endowments she slowed them down and we made it in time! Watching my little sister was so...magical is the wrong word, but grow up into this person, at that moment, was powerful.

Anyway, Thursday was my birthday and we did lunch and cupcakes at my sisters house then had a "Godsey Christmas."

This was on our real Christmas! James didn't want to be in the picture :(

Friday we had more fun! As we were heading out of town on our way down to St. George for Saturdays wedding and I had a tooth turn electric. So there I was in tears, in a city I am lost in with teeth problems. Curtis started calling everyone and stopping by different dentists without any success! So we called Nancy and she did her magic and found us a dentist...in Cedar City, 3+ hours away. I was dying. But we made it. Thanks to Dr. Brown, Jace's childhood Bishop, I am all better. I got a root canal and never felt a bit of pain! So happy!

Saturday we got up and dressed and did the sealing...Nancy was so gorgeous. I was able to help her get dressed, which was sweet to share those treasured moments with her. She is so confident and that just beams from her like the light from the sun. Watching her walk out the doors of the temple was precious. We did pictures, naps and dinner and swimming then off to bed.

Sunday we were all supposed to head back up to Orem and go to church with Emily and Lj, but we decided to take the drive easy. It was snowing and we didn't want to wake up the boys so we took our time getting up there and I am so glad because again we ran into problems. Our flight got cancelled! We got our flights rescheduled for Monday morning at 6:30, but Curtis and I looked at each other and said, lets stay here for Christmas!!! So we did.

Monday we had issues with our rental car on Monday, but we got them worked out. Since we had only reserved it thru Sunday we had to trade it in for another car, smaller, but it was great watching Curtis trying to fit is long legs in the car with a car seat behind it!

We had a great time with Emily and her family sledding on Tuesday and we got to hang out with Lj and his wife, Michelle. Plus we got to spend a little of Christmas with Curtis' siblings and Grandpa playing games and eating pizza for our Christmas midnight snack!
This is Curtis brother, Clay (Cj) and Logan

We had so much fun, even with a root canal! We got home Friday the 26th with extra luggage and a good experience. When we got home our tree was pretty much dead...very sad, but I never really got around to decorating it much, so I wasn't that sad!

Just a token picture, Logan found his thumb on December 10, 2008 and ever since then has been sleeping thru the night!
